Optiscan CEO Dr. Camile Farah delivered the Keynote Address at the 2025 Mayo Clinic Beahrs Surgical Innovation Summit in Rochester, Minnesota, a leading forum bringing together global leaders in surgery, innovation, and healthcare investment.
During his keynote, Camile shared expert insights into how digital pathology and real-time imaging are reshaping clinical and surgical decision-making. He explored the shift from traditional, analogue workflows toward digitally native, point-of-care approaches, highlighting the role real-time cellular imaging can play in enabling greater precision, efficiency, and confidence during surgery.
The session opened with remarks from James (Jim) Rogers III, CEO of Mayo Clinic Digital Pathology, who outlined Mayo Clinic’s vision for unlocking the full potential of digital pathology across clinical practice.Camile then built on these themes, discussing how end-to-end digital workflows - combined with emerging technologies such as AI, telepathology, and image-guided surgery - have the potential to transform patient care and surgical outcomes.
Camile also reflected on the lessons learned from radiology’s digital transformation and the commercial and clinical value created when pathology moves from the “back end” of healthcare to the point of care. The keynote concluded with a moderated Q&A session led by Bill Peters, President and CEO of On Target Laboratories, providing further insight into the future direction of digital pathology and precision surgery.
